Description
Mohawk Oil Company - Bakersfield, CA - Circa 1930's. This incredibly rare sign is the best of two known examples and features a bold Native American graphic. DST (double sided tin) sign has excellent color and shine. Both sides display very well. Side #1 has small paint chips and scratches in the field and along the perimeter. The Mohawk lettering has a light crease through "HAW" and a circular crease in the red at 3 o'clock. The reverse has similar wear. The outer black border on the reverse may have an older repaint. Mounted in a new metal ring. We believe this sign dates after the brand's acquisition by California Petroleum in 1925 or a later reorganization in 1928. Overall, an iconic centerpiece to any petroliana collection. 29.75" D. Condition: 8 & 7.9. All items are guaranteed authentic by Richmond Auctions. Free delivery is offered to either the Indy Ad Show or AACA Fall Hershey Flea Market. Please contact us immediately following the auction if you need delivery to one of the shows listed above.
